Chapters 21-25

*Chapter 21

KangTa headed to WooHyuk's to drop off his car. He still couldn't believe what happened with JiYun...she was all that he dreamt of, and more. Grinning, he parked in WooHyuk's garage and went to the front door just as HeeJun, and JaeWon were leaving.

"Hey, KT!" HeeJun cried.

WooHyuk stuck his head out the door, followed by Tony's head. "KangTa? What are you doing here?" asked WooHyuk.

"I came to drop off your car, hyung."

"Oh...do you want to come in for a while?" Woo Hyuk turned to the others and smiled. "You guys might as well stay a while longer,"

"Sure," KangTa said a bit uncomfortably. He noticed Tony's eyez on him, and he didn't like it.

As they settled themselves in the living room, Tony casually asked, "So, KangTa, where have you been all night?"

KangTa could feel himself blushing. "Um...I went to go talk to JiYun, you know, to apologize for making her wait so long."

Tony wasn't gonna give KangTa a break. "Apologizing took over two hours?"

KangTa sighed. "We were talking, ok?"

"About what? What could you two possibly talk about for two hours?"

The others members looked at each other worriedly.

"Well, how about you, hyung? What if I said we were talking about you? And how you were an idiot cuz you just dropped JiYun?"

"What the --"

"What?" KangTa challenged. "You know it'z true, hyung. You have no right to be even asking me what happened with her. It's none of your business anymore. She's not your best friend anymore, and it's all your fault."

"Hey, guys..." JaeWon spoke up feebly.

"No, let me finish! What if I told you that I kissed her? Then what would you do?" KangTa shouted.

Tony stood. "You damn bastard!" He reached for KangTa's shirt collar and pulled him towards him.

"Why do you care so much now, hyung? I thought it was YooRa, YooRa, YooRa. Now you hear that something might be up between me and JiYun, and so all of a sudden, you care about JiYun? Whatever, hyung! You're screwed up! What kind of game are you playing?" KangTa continued.

"You're really asking for it," Tony said, his free hand clenching into a fist.

"Go ahead, Tony! Hit me! What's that gonna do? Nothing! JiYun's still with me, and she's now gonna think even less of you!"

Tony lowered KangTa's shirt. His eyes seemed to to be on fire. He let go of KangTa and turned around so he wasn't facing him anymore. "Get out." he said evenly. "And if you touch JiYun again, I'll kill you." With that, he walked out.

*Chapter 22

KangTa's head was down as the others exchanged very worried looks. KangTa felt tears coming to his eyes. He couldn't believe Tony. But he couldn't believe himself, either. What had he done? He had never fought with his hyungs before...and now Tony hated him.

HeeJun walked over to KangTa and put his arms around him. "Don't cry, KangTa," he consoled. "It's ok. Give Tony some time. He'll get over it, you know him."

KangTa just wiped his eyes. "I better go,"

WooHyuk looked at him. "I told you this would happen. What did you do? What did you start? Why did you come between Tony and JiYun's problems? And why did you bring YooRa into it?"

"I couldn't help it, hyung! What am I supposed to do? Tony is ignoring JiYun, do you know how she's feeling? And for her cousin, too! That's why I brought up YooRa! Cuz she's part of it! Don't you see it, hyung? What kind of person just stands by and watches the person they care for suffer like that?" KangTa cried out. "Not me, not me."

"He's not ignoring JiYun, he's just...feeling some things that he doesn't know how to deal with. KangTa, don't tell me you don't know...you know that Tony likes JiYun, and JiYun likes Tony. How are you gonna deal with that? What are you gonna do if they decide to straighten things out, and they get together? Where are you gonna be?"

"I don't know!! I don't know!" KangTa was crying freely now.

"Stop it!" JaeWon spoke up fiercely.

Everyone turned to look at him, surprised.

"Why are you all raggin on KangTa hyung? If Tony dropped JiYun noona, then I think she has a right to go for other people. Why should she have to suffer and wait for him to come around? Why? That's gonna kill her, you guys don't know." JaeWon's voice dropped to a whisper. "You guys don't know."

HeeJun took a deep breath, and paused. "And you do, JaeWon?" he asked. "I've been meaning to ask...what's going on with you? Why won't you tell us? We know something's been going on...what happened between you and EunJu?"

JaeWon quickly stood up. "Nothing. Let's go home. HeeJun hyung, take me home, please? I don't wanna sit here and waste my time all night."

HeeJun looked like he was going to explode, but WooHyuk gave him one look and HeeJun calmed down. "Fine," he said shortly. "You guys better take care of all your problems quick. We can't let anything split up this group, not now, not ever. Don't forget we have practice tomorrow, and a meeting with the coordi noonas."

As HeeJun and JaeWon left, KangTa turned to WooHyuk sorrowfully. "Hyung, you're not mad at me, are you?"

WooHyuk shook his head. "No... I don't have any reason to be...but you better figure out what you're doing man, both to JiYun and to Tony."

KangTa nodded almost painfully. "I'll see you tomorrw, hyung, and don't worry, I will take care of all this." he said quietly. He made his way to his car, his head throbbing with the day's events.

WooHyuk stood and watched KangTa leave. "Will you really, KangTa?" he whispered as he shut the door behind him.

*Chapter 23

JiYun cried and cried into her bed. Her tears wouldn't stop, no matter what she did. All she could think about was Tony...Tony and YooRa...it just killed her to think about them together. She knew now...Tony...she had feelings for him. She cared about him a lot. But what could she do now? KangTa liked her, Tony liked YooRa, and YooRa liked...she liked... JiYun bitterly reminded herself that YooRa just liked herself. "Oh, Tony," she whispered.

Beep beep beep beep.

JiYun raised her head and tiredly groped around for her pager.

"Dammit, who could be paging at this hour?" she asked herself.

She flicked on the lights and read her page. It was her voicemail, so she groggily dialed her number and pressed 3. "Hey, JiYun..." a male voice said hesitantly. Recognition lit her eyes. "Oh no," she groaned. "Yeah, it's me KangTa..." the voice continued. "I just wanted to say goodnite and that I hope you're feeling better...and...and...I'm thinking of you, ok? Ok then, bye."

Beep beep beep beep.

"Ahhh...." she fumbled again. "07" she read. Her heart jumped up. 07 was Tony...her Tony...no, not her Tony anymore...but why would he page her? This was the first time he had paged her in a billion years. After a minute of indecision, she decided not to call him back. After all, it was just Tony, and he probably wanted to talk about YooRa or something. She shut her pager off and turned the lights back off as she settled into a long sleepless night.

Tony was pacing around the living room, angry as hell. "Why isn't she calling me back?" he kept on asking himself. He checked his watch. It was after two. Maybe she had gone to bed already.

WooHyuk stumbled into the living room, his eyes weary with sleep. "Hey, Tony...what are you doing? Why aren't you going to sleep? You're keeping me up!"

Tony glanced at WooHyuk. "Nothing," he gruffly said. "Go back to sleep, and don't worry about me."

WooHyuk looked at Tony worriedly. "Hey, you aren't like planning to kill KangTa, are you?"

At the sound of KangTa's name, Tony tensed up considerably. "No, I'm not gonna kill him...but I'm really not too happy with him rite now. If he does anything to JiYun, that's when I'll kill him."

"That's not funny, Tony."

"It wasn't meant to be."

WooHyuk paused. "What exactly do you think you're doing?"

Tony sharply looked at WooHyuk. "What do you mean, what am I doing?"

"Don't try to act like you don't know shit, cuz I know you do. Why are you playing with JiYun like this? And KangTa? And YooRa?"

"Woo, I don't know what the hell you want me to tell you."

WooHyuk looked up to the ceiling and sighed. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I should just stay out of it, right? It's none of my business. I don't know why all you guys are telling me that...probably cuz I care. We're all supposed to be friends, Tony. And whatever this thing is, it affects you and KangTa, and that afffects our group, and that affects me."

"Look, I'm sorry."

"Yeah, well, what are you gonna do?"

He remained silent. "I don't know. There's really nothing..."

"Tony," WooHyuk said quietly. "Wake up, it's the real world. Figure it out."

"I'm going to bed."

"Ahhh..." said WooHyuk, frustrated. There was nothing he could do but follow Tony...he went to bed with troubled thoughts running through his mind.

Tony wasn't too happy, either.

*Chapter 24

JiYun woke up feeling like she never even went to sleep. She felt awful. As she propped herself up, she could hear clanking sounds coming from the kitchen. A grimace decorated JiYun's face. YooRa was probably making a mess in there.

JiYun staggered outside and into the cozy kitchen. YooRa glanced up, and then looked back down. JiYun sighed. The tension was unbearably thick. "Good morning, YooRa," she curtly said. YooRa just nodded at JiYun. It was becoming apparent that whatever mess YooRa was concocting wasn't meant for JiYun, so she decided to go out and eat. Abruptly, she turned and left the kitchen.

The morning air was crisp and JiYun breathed it in gratefully. As she headed to her favorite cafe, she caught a glimpse of someone that she thought she knew sitting at one of the out side tables. "EunJu?" JiYun called out tentatively.

The figure looked up. "JiYun unni?"

"Ahh!" JiYun cried happily. She quickly made her way to the table and wrapped EunJu in a big hug. JiYun pulled away with a scolding look on her face. "Ya! Where have you been? You don't even bother to call me anymore! Is that anyway to treat your unni?"

"Ha!" EunJu scoffed. "And you unni? What, you don't have arms either? You can't pick up the phone either?"

"You know it!" JiYun giggled. Her face softened. "Well, you know, we've both been busy, right?"

EunJu smiled. "Right."

JiYun and EunJu sat down at the table. "So, what are you doing here by yourself?" asked JiYun. "Are you waiting for JaeWon?"

EunJu's smile faded. Obviously JaeWon hadn't told many people about the breakup. "Um..." she mumbled.

"Oh!" JiYun interrupted. "Never mind, EunJu...here he comes!"

EunJu's face turned pale. "What??" she asked shrilly. "Oh, unni, don't --"

"JaeWon!!" JiYun shouted. "Over here!!"

"Unni!!" EunJu whispered urgently. "No! Don't call him over here! I'm serious!"

JiYun looked at EunJu strangely. "What do you mean don't call him? What are you smoking? Aren't you waiting for him?"

EunJu just buried her head in her hands.

JaeWon had heard his name being called, but he had no idea who it was. "JaeWon!" came the voice again, along with waving arms. He looked closer, and it was JiYun noona! Gladly, he started towards her when he caught a glimpse of someone else. Who was that? He shrugged. Whoever she was, she had her face down on the table, so he couldn't see her at all. He jogged towards JiYun and hoped that Tony had seen JiYun too and would follow him to go talk to her.

"JiYuni noona!" JaeWon called happily and reached over to give her a big hug. "Wow! It's been kinda long, don't you think?"

JiYun smiled. "Yeah, it really has, but JaeWon, look --"

"Man, I haven't talked to you for what, months?" JaeWon continued. "You know what, Tony hyung should be right behind me but I don't know where he is!"

"What?" JiYun cried. "Tony's here?" She turned pale but didn't move. She took a deep breath, reasoning with herself that once Tony saw her, he probably wouldn't come over to her anyway... but she also reminded herself that he did page her yesterday. She decided that the safest thing to do was hide. Like, at the girl's bathroom or something. "Um...JaeWon, sit down. I'll be rite back. Talk to EunJu. You haven't said a word to her! Aren't you guys supposed to be meeting each other?"

JaeWon felt the ground shake from underneath him as soon as he heard her name. EunJu. "Wha-- Eun -- oh... shit..." was all he could manage.

JiYun didn't even hear that much, cuz she was too busy running to the bathroom.

*Chapter 25

Tony didn't understand it. One minute he was standing in line with JaeWon, trying to decide what they should order for breakfast. The next minute, JaeWon was running off somewhere, claiming that he heard someone call his name. That crazy kid. He was acting stranger everyday. Tony didn't bother following him. He was hungry, and he was getting his food.

"Order number 15! Your food is ready!"

Tony bolted up and smacked his lips. Mmm. He could already taste the food. He hurriedly made his way towards the food stand and took the tray when all of a sudden out of nowhere some girl ran straight smack into him.

"Hey!" he protested. His food went flying everywhere! "Damn, watch where you're going, lady!"

JiYun froze. Oh god... she thought. Oh god... please, don't tell me that out of all the people I could have run into, I ran into...

Tony knew her. He knew the shape of her lowered head, he knew her body movements. How she got there, he didn't know. All he knew was that it was her, and she was what he needed to see. It didn't matter that much, whatever, whyever, however, she got there, it was fate. He had to talk to her now.

JiYun saw his hand reached out towards her crumpled figure on the ground. She stared at the hands she knew so well, the hands she loved... she shut her eyes and grabbed them as he pulled her up. She looked up and saw his gentle eyes coupled with the twisted grimace and wondered what he could possibly have to say to her now.

"Come on, sit down." he gruffly said, not even meeting her startlingly clear gaze.

"I...I'm...sorry about your food," she quietly said as she sat across from him. "I'll buy you something else if you want."

He slowly grinned, lighting up his face. "It's ok. I'll live," he said lightly. "I...I...I mean, I... you know," he paused and took a deep breath. Laughing bitterly, he remarked, "I've never had trouble talking to you before. What's going on here, JiYun? We've been friends for too long to stop now. I'm so... I don't know what I am."

JiYun felt a rush of resentment. She couldn't control the words that flowed out of her lips; she didn't care if she was being too rash or too blunt. "I'll tell you. You're a jerk, Tony. You say that our friendship means a lot to you? Well then you have to relearn how to be a friend cuz to me, you're not one, nevertheless the best friend that you're supposed to be."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Tony asked defensively.

"Don't act stupid! This is the first time I've talked to you in like ten years, Tony. Is that the way it is? What, are you too busy to pick up the phone and page me once in a while? Or is it because you're too busy with YooRa doing God knows what?"

"Oh, so it's all my fault now?" Tony snapped. "If I was the only one making mistakes, then we wouldn't be having problems, JiYun. It takes two, remember? You could use a couple of lessons on how to be a friend yourself. You can't call me? Are you too busy too? And speaking of YooRa, what about the kind of friend you're being to her?"

YooRa. The name had to enter the argument somewhere. JiYun was sorry she brought her up. She couldn't help it. She exploded. "God, Tony! This is exactly what I'm talking about! You say you're my best friend? Then why the hell are you putting YooRa, someone you barely know, before me? Is that what you call being a friend? How could you? After all the things we've gone through! Forget it! Forget everything! This is it, Tony, I can't believe you. There's nothing I have to say to you anymore!" Angrily, she stood up and pushed her chair in forcefully. She turned around and started walking away.

"What about KangTa, JiYun?" shouted Tony. That did it. She stopped in her tracks. "What about what you're doing to him? I know you don't like him. Are you like using him or something to get back at me? Cuz you're just jealous of me and YooRa. I know it! That's not messed up, what you're doing to him? Snap out of the I'm all holy phase, JiYun. You're nowhere even close!"

JiYun didn't bother turning around. Her eyes brimming with tears, she furiously walked away from Tony. "...never again..." JiYun whispered. This was it for her and Tony.

Tony, frustrated, could feel the tears coming to his eyes. "Dammit!" he said pounding on the table. How could things have turned out this way? He was gonna talk to her. Make everything like it used to be. Burying his head in his hands, he just then noticed something. Money. Money on the table. JiYun had left him money to buy breakfast. Half laughing, half cursing, he swept the money off the table. Why did he need her money? He wasn't even hungry anymore.
